Minutes
The meeting started at 7:15 pm.
How many brochures to make? Settled on 1000 for now. That's enough to get a good printing rate, and we're not sure we'll need more.
Some questions on business cards: we'd like a Logo, Club name, and the URL. That seems to be the most stable to have over time.
Members can ask Jim to have the newsletters mailed to them. There is no
extra cost until their membership is up for renewal.
Renewal postcards? Jim is going to check on the rates.
Paypal may be the best way to go. It isn't as convenient as many other
online payment methods, but it is cheap and will probably cover 75% or
more of those members who do choose to pay online.
Various options were considered. Several acres seemed the best, to give us
room from encroachment, and also for future improvements. Some questions on
leasing vs. buying. No equity with leasing, but it is very cheap.
8:20 - Meeting Ends
Previous Minutes
The board voted to approve the February 2004 minutes.
Updated Forms + Calendar
Janice brought over the updated forms, brochures, and the 2004 Calendar. A few proofreading notes.
Jim recommended that we add a field for the customer number for magazine subscriptions.
Astronomy Day
Not invited to the Pacific Science Center this year, they're "doing their own thing." In early May, we'll participate in the UW Observatory Rededication.
Newsletter
President's message for the April letter will state clearly that this will
be the last mailed copy. From May onwards, newsletters will be mailed only
to those members who ask for it.
Electronic Payment
We looked at Kogi, and it was very expensive.
Library Disposal
On Saturday April 3rd we'll move the library to the new location. After that,
the books will be brought to the April meeting, and sold for $1 each. Any
books not sold will be donated to the Seattle Public Library.
Dark Sky Site
Some discussion of the possibilities around dark sky sites.
