Minutes
The meeting started at 7:15 pm.
We will try to have a scope there with a solar filter. Also need to worry about setting up a display
that can withstand the wind.
More discussions of leasing as cheaper short-term option. However, we don't have any leads on
leasing space in Washington State (or Federal) Parks.
Also, we now have permission from the parks department for 3 member vehicles at the Rattlesnake
Lake site, on non-star-party nights.
8:20 - Meeting Ends
Previous Minutes
The board voted to approve the March 2004 minutes. For April, since the meeting was cancelled, we will post
a note saying there was no meeting.
Trailsfest
Trailsfest is July 10th this year, we will have a booth there. It is the same night as the star parties, so we may stay late and host people at the site.
Brochures
Janice has put together the brochures for us. How many to print? 1000 membership forms, along with
500 of the 2004 Brochures.
VP Programs
Rick has resigned as VP Programs, due to a lack of time. Steve will cover for now. We would like
to find a new member to take this position.
Banquet Chair
It is already time to plan on the 2005 banquet! We'd like to use the same place as the 2004
banquet (Rock Salt on Lake Union). We will look for a banquet chair, and see about reserving
the dining hall in the meantime.
Newsletter
Steve has found 3 volunteers for the position of Newsletter Editor. Steve is meeting with them
in order to see if they will have the time.
Renewal Forms
Jim has started using postcards for renewal notices. So far it has worked out well.
Dark Sky Site
More discussion of possibilities of finding a dark sky site. The main point is that banks will
not want to lend a non-profit agency much money. If we find a spot we'd like, we can expect to
make a 50% down payment. Given that most interesting sites, even cheap ones, are in the 10's of
thousands of dollars, this is a big investment.
Star Parties
Steve has suggested moving the dark sky parties from Tiger Mountain to Rattlesnake Lake. The
skies are a bit darker at Rattlesnake lake, and the site is more convenient as far as in/out
access goes.
