More Information

Attendance was difficult to estimate because groups of people were constantly arriving, viewing through the telescopes, and then leaving.  Since there were two refractors (one 4" and one 2.5") and four Newtonian reflectors available, many people went  from one telescope to another, apparently enjoying comparison of the view through the different telescopes.  Also, it appeared that most participants were using cell phones with astronomy apps.  As they located various points of interest in the sky via the apps, they were asking questions about objects and especially the Summer Triangle asterism.  There was special interest in Deneb, Altair, and Vega, the Summer Triangle stars with magnitudes that made them standouts that night among the other stars visible from Seattle.
