Overview

Fundamental skills for using a telescope and observing the sky.To register, contact Bob Mulford at workshop@seattleastro.org. Topics include:
-Using a planisphere to identify stars and constellations.
-A sense of scale:Using star charts and a finder telescope.
-Aiming a telescope and star hopping to a deep sky wonder.
-Understanding nebula filters scale.
-Understanding Nomenclature(Stars,M-numbers,NGC,more).
-Understanding daily and seasonal changes in the sky.

Both new and experienced SAS members are welcome. Parking is available on campus in the TJO parking lot and is usually free after 12:00 noon but parking may be crowded. Be patient; a spot will usually open up in a few minutes. You may also park in the Burke Museum lot near TJO.
