Tiger Mountain

 Description

We currently have access to an observing site at the trailhead on Tiger Mountain. The Tiger Mountain Trailhead site is located approximately 0.25 mile past a locked gate beyond the Tiger Mountain Summit parking area. The dirt road is suitable for all types of vehicles. Once all members of the star party enter the road, the gate will be locked. Because the gate is only a short distance from the observing site it will be possible for a group to leave earlier in the evening.

The site has toilet facilities, but there is no running water. It is possible for mosquitoes to be a problem during the Spring and Summer months, so bring your preferred mosquito repellant system. Be sure to bring warm clothing as well. It may be a hot day in the Seattle area, but at night on Tiger Mountain, even in the Summer, it can be quite chilly.

Please note: The Tiger Mountain Star Party is currently a members-only event. Club members are welcome to bring their family and should contact the organizer/keymaster (Mike Langley) if they wish to bring a guest. If you're not a SAS member and wish to join us, now is the time to consider membership!

 Rules & Etiquette

The first rule is that the Keymaster is the final authority on when the group moves through the gates to the observing site. This is necessitated by the fact that we possess only one key to these gates and the Keymaster is responsible for insuring that no one is locked in. Cooperation with the Keymaster will be greatly appreciated.

Mountain bikers are the other primary constituency that we will be sharing the mountain with. Our impression is that the bikers are not used to sharing the road with motor vehicles and you will want to be vigilant when driving the access road.

Keymaster is Mike Langley
