Telescope Library

 Overview

The Seattle Astronomical Society maintains a library of small and medium size telescopes that may be checked out for a period of 1 month by members in good standing. If you are new to astronomy, this is an excellent way learn how to use a telescope and to begin viewing the wonders of the night sky, without having to invest immediately in a telescope of your own. To check out a telescope, please contact our Telescope Librarian.

Do you have an old, unused telescope gathering dust in a garage, attic, or basement? Is it neglected because it is hard to use, on a wobbly mounting, or doesn't seem to give good images? FIRST consider making some simple upgrades that may turn it into a telescope that you will want to use to observe the stars. Our SAS telescope makers' group can give you some useful tips.

However, if you REALLY, REALLY don't have a use for that old telescope, consider making a tax deductible donation of it to the SAS telescope library.
