May Meeting
Peter Hirtle SAS Telescope Makers Loren Busch SAS Astronomical League Representative Wednesday, May 19 7:30 p.m. A-102 Physics-Astronomy Building University of Washington Come early at 7 p.m. to visit with your fellow members. Bring your slides for after the program. |
We've learned a lot from the outside speakers we've had during the last several months. We're keeping up to date with leading-edge astronomical research, and we will continue this in future months. But our own people have been active also! Two of our Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS) members are going to speak at the May meeting. One is Peter Hirtle, who heads the telescope makers group, and the other is Loren Busch, who will tell us about the Astronomical League. In addition, many of you may have slides that you could be showing to the club. I bring a slide projector to each meeting, and I would like to see it used more often. |

There are others who have done impressive things. For example, Fred Quarnstrom attended an astronomy camp in Tucson, Arizona, and took some mighty impressive pictures through a 60-inch telescope. [Editors note: See the article from Fred in this issue] Jerry West has been doing some impressive things with CCD cameras. Keith Allred has a telescope that has adaptec optics. We want to hear from all these people at future meetings and anyone else who has things to share. The May 19 will be held at 7:30 p.m. in room A102 of the Physics/Astronomy building on the University of Washington campus. |
