    Covington Parks & Recreation sponsors monthly star parties observing the moon, planets, constellations and interesting astronomical objects. Volunteer astronomers from the Seattle Astronomical Society and Boeing Employees' Astronomical Society will provide telescopes and assist guests of all ages to view available celestial objects of the season. Telescopes and/or binoculars will be provided by SAS volunteers, but participants are also welcome to bring their telescopes. Also, participants might want to bring their favorite cell phone sky app or a sky map from www.skymaps.com , but these helps are not required. Dress warmly.

    Topic: Tips for Processing Dark Nebula and Dust Dark nebula and dust can be very challenging to work with in processing. Adam Landefeld will discuss the processing tips and tricks he uses to produce excellent results when working with these challenging elements. This group meets to discuss imaging and processing techniques. No experience or special equipment required! Meets second Tuesday of the month in the Red Barn Classroom of the Museum of Flight.

    General Meeting

    The monthly general meeting is as always, Open to the Public. Prior to the General Meeting, SAS volunteer staff offer a welcome table from 7:00PM to 7:30PM. New member and guests are invited to ask questions and meet some of the existing members. All attendees are welcome to stop by, have a cookie, and (if available) make a name tag to help everyone get to know you better. The meeting begins at 7:30pm with SAS business, followed by the lecture.

    Third Quarter Moon Members-Only Star Party

    This star party offers another opportunity each month to observe under a dark sky. It's open to all SAS members but is specifically designed to orient new members to dark-sky protocol. Although dark-sky etiquette is expected (see below), experienced members will be on hand to help newcomers learn the ropes. The Third Quarter Star Party is for SAS members only and will be on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. if weather permits.

    Always scheduled on the closest Saturday to the New Moon, our next Members-only Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead Star Party will be held on Saturday, December 28, from 6:00 P.M. to 11:55 P.M. Join us as we look up and enjoy the evening sky. We stargaze at the Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead parking lot to the southwest of Snoqualmie Point Park. All vehicles must display a valid Discover Pass.
