About the Event
Come out to Discovery Park in Tehaleh and enjoy some stargazing with members of the Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS). Everyone is welcome. People with telescopes can arrive at 8:30pm to setup. It wont really be dark until 9:30pm.
Experienced astronomer volunteers from the Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS) bring their telescopes and binoculars to share with the public.
A short introduction to stargazing will start between 30 and 45 minutes after sunset. This will help you identify some basic features of the night sky and learn how to find objects.
We urge people to keep dogs away from the telescopes, they inadvertently can get leashes tangled up in the tripod legs and pull a telescope over.
Bring a red light flashlight and not a white light one. You can wrap the end of a normal flashlight with red cellophane and secure it with duck tape. I have even used a red…
