About the Event

This month the SAS Women's Astronomy Group is going to be reading "On The Origin of Time" by Thomas Hertog.

On the Origin of Time is a 2023 book by physicist Thomas Hertog, detailing his and Stephen Hawking's final theory on the universe's origin, which proposes that physical laws evolved with the Big Bang, rather than preceding it. The book combines physics history, memoir, and a new cosmological model, explaining how the universe's conditions became suitable for life through a "Darwinian" perspective on physics itself. Written at Hawking's request, it presents their "top-down" theory, suggesting time and laws were born together, challenging traditional views.

We will meet at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park.

If interested, please contact Wendy at outreach@seattleastro.org to RSVP, so I can give the coffee shop an idea of how large our group will be. Let me know if you have any questions!
