Remember that the 2016 outstanding SAS Banquet will take the place of the general SAS meeting usually scheduled on the third Wednesday of each month except January. Because the Banquet is the only SAS meeting for the general membership and public during January, there will be no January general SAS meeting on the third Wednesday at the UW this year or in any year.

On August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from the contiguous United States for the first time since 1979. Espenak will present a detailed preview of this exciting event with maps, photos and weather prospects along the eclipse path based on his recent book on the same subject.
