Overview

This Astrophotography Special Interest Group Meeting (astrophotography event) scheduled for Feb 12, 2019, 07:00 PM is cancelled due to inclement weather.

I am attempting to reschedule this event for next week, but haven't heard back from the Museum yet.  If I can't reschedule it for then, it will be moved to April's meeting.  I'll post to the calendar as soon as we have a make-up date.  Stay safe and warm everyone!

More Information

Topic: "What the heck is wrong with this stupid thing!?": Tactics for troubleshooting under duress.

See description in notes section below.

This group meets to discuss imaging and processing techniques. No experience or special equipment required!

Meets second Tuesday of the month in the Red Barn Classroom at the Museum of Flight.

Astrophotography is an incredibly rewarding endeavor, but it is not without it's share of stumbling blocks. Losing data to troubleshooting can be incredibly frustrating, but the reward of working to solve those problems is boundless when your rig just "works." Jon will discuss some of the common issues and pitfalls users come across while imaging (including the staff at Cloud Break Optics), along with the clever tips and tricks used at the shop for identiying and resolving them. Finally, attendees can bring their own issues to the workshop to either enlighten the group on how they solved their problem, or ask the group for help in working one still hanging them up. This presentation is geared toward both beginners and advanced imagers alike, as astrophotography problems care not about your skill level :).

Topic: Nightscapes, How Can Our Astroimages Transcend the Digital World? How can our astrophotos last forever in today’s digital society? For many, the enjoyment is in capturing and processing an astrophoto, but are there more beneficial ways to promote our work outside the digital world? The answer is yes, and we should share our astrophotography in a manner that reaches larger audiences and lasts for future generations. For full summary, see "Notes" section below. Reminder

This is just a friendly reminder that the Astrophotography Special Interest Group Meeting (astrophotography event) is scheduled for TONIGHT Jan 08, 2019, 07:00 PM. Please come out and join us!

We have a real treat this month!  Matthew Dieterich, Techincal Services Manager at Planewave Instruments, will be talking to us about printing and publishing our astrophotographs.  Matt has been an astrophotographer for over a decade, and most recently had one of his prints immortalized as a Forever Stamp with the USPS (http://about.usps.com/news/national-releases/2016/pr16_029.htm).  This will be an excellent talk.  I hope everyone can make it!
