Overview

The January general meeting will be at the Bellevue College Planetarium.

Guest speaker: Joel Lamb

Joel has a BS in Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics from the University of Iowa, a MS and PhD from the University of Michigan in Astronomy and Astrophysics.  His doctoral dissertation was "Massive Star Formation in Sparse Environments".  

He has spent the last decade teaching the next generation of astronomers, first at Nassau Community College in New York and now at Bellevue College.  The topic of January's talk will come from his PhD and postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan and is entitled: "The Loneliest O Stars".

The planetarium is on the second floor of the B building, room B244.  The closest parking lot to the planetarium is the parking garage off of Kelsey Creek Road & Tyee River Road.  Please refer to the campus map at the link provided.

This month we will be discussing purchasing 5 acres of land in a bortle 2 dark sky site near Goldendale WA for use by the membership as a dedicated location for observing year round. We will also hold a vote to make a change to the bylaws that elevate Outreach Coordinator and Equipment Manager to full voting board members.
