Engineers from Planetary Resources—developers of technology for mining asteroids—will talk about their first spacecraft and its mission due for deployment from the ISS next week. Learn about the company, their mission and how a spacecraft in orbit (and the people on the ground!) can track the mission's progress.

Wed at 07:30 PMOpen to PublicNASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador will talk about his astronomy outreach work on behalf of the New Horizons mission to Pluto, as well as give us the latest on other missions to icy worlds: Rosetta and Philae at Comet 67P, and Dawn at Ceres. Before the main presentation, SAS board member Stephanie Anderson will show off the new astrophotography gear available for loan from SAS's equipment library.

Sibling Rivalry in Massive Stars
Wed at 07:30 PMOpen to PublicUW astronomy graduate and lecturer Breanna Binder will provide an overview of single star stellar evolution, and then discuss how massive stars in binary systems evolve differently from single stars. Some of these massive stellar binaries will form neutron star-neutron star or black hole-black hole binaries that are destined to eventually merge with one another.
