    Every month SAS meets for our general meeting commonly featuring a guest speaker and presentation. It also provides members a chance to engage and be in community with each other. We normally meet on the campus of the University of Washington in the physics auditorium but are temporarily meeting over Zoom.     Understanding Telescopes

    This workshop will cover basic concepts needed for choosing and using telescope, eyepieces, and star charts. A secondary purpose of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for both new and established members to get to know each other. Several experienced SAS observers will help with discussions.

    A Night with the Planets & Stars

    Jon Bearscove's Galileo Astronomy Unclub (GAU) has been asked to conduct a large-scale event under the stars for Rainier Middle School in Auburn. This event may have 300 or more students/parents. Jon and I are contacting SAS members and local astronomy organizations for volunteers with telescopes to assist in this event. Volunteers will set up telescopes in a large school courtyard.     Table Mountain Star Party 2014 in Review

    Our October general meeting will feature a presentation on the 2014 Table Mountain Star Party. Attendance was up for the second year at the new Eden Valley location, and there were fun times with the beautiful dark skies and daytime activities that are memorable for everyone. SAS member Maxine Nagel will be sharing photos, video, and stories from this year's party.
